“Maybe you’d like me again
If I went back to the bottle
Maybe you’d like me again
If I went back to being miserable
We could be unhappy together
We could be drunk together
We could punk together
We could be friends again”

Apologies, I Have None || 60 Miles
Yeah we all have bad habits
and we all act as addicts
when there’s something we want
and we don’t stop until we have it
Yeah I get mad at shit when it doesn’t go my way
but I’m finally learning
you can’t always do things the easy way
This ain’t the easiest way to do anything
to pull up roots that are buried deep
but it’d be alright
be alright as long as the slate’s clean
And I can’t blame problems on concrete
failings on the buildings around me
so I’ll take it all to the city

Also my mum gave me my early birthday pressie today (my birthday isn’t until 29th November but I’m spoilt hah). I’m so excited, I hope he’s as good as he was in 2010.
Today I finally resigned from all kinds of music journalism. I feel sad I won’t be reviewing anymore but it was the right decision.
When I was 17 and first started journalism (NME intern yerr) I thought it was cool because of how exclusive it was, the idea that you can be an authority on music. As I’ve got older and worked for different publications I’ve realised that actually I was wrong, what’s cool about music journalism is anyone can do it, anyone can write for a website or state their opinion and while that’s awesome it’s also not a career.
I’ve been busy lately, looking for a new job, focusing on being a copywriter but also looking after rescue rats and going to as many shows as possible. I’m 25 next month and I’ve been taking stock in my life and I don’t have enough time for music journalism anymore. I guess it’s time to look to the future and let my work become a bigger priority if not the biggest (that’s still music and mates).
I’ve had a great time with Bizarre Magazine, NME, Uprawr, Amplified and more recently Punktastic and especially Already Heard, who I’ve made great friends and interviewed my heroes with.
I’ve been reflective these past few months but I feel like I’m in a good place.
